Seattle’s PCC Natural Markets Greenlake Village location boasts a 27,000 s/f floor plan with a unique retail-residential concept. It pairs upscale apartment and condo living on the upper floors with a vibrant retail community on the ground floor in one of Seattle’s most desirable locations next to Green Lake. This provided the opportunity for UZIN technical managers to use our product systems to solve some major slab deflection and leveling challenges.

CHALLENGES
Adapt analysis software and a laser level survey revealed slab deflections of between ½” and 5/8” well above the maximum allowable limit which caused a rolling substrate. There were multiple cracks at column cores which needed to be chased, bridged and repaired. Areas that would be subject to heavy loads and high traffic patterns needed additional flexural strength.
SOLUTION
Column core openings were wrapped with foam barriers and the substrate was then shot blasted. The floor was primed with UZIN PE 260 Substrate Primer and then UZIN RR 201 Substrate Reinforcing Mesh was installed at all freight hallways, support columns and over minor repaired cracks. UZIN NC 150 Project Plus Leveling Compound was poured into the shallower areas and UZIN NC 170 Premium Leveling Compound was poured into the deeper areas. All poured sections were ramped down with UZIN NC 182 Patching and Repair Compound.
