UZIN UTZ North America Inc. Announces Location of Second UZIN Manufacturing Facility

UZIN UTZ NORTH AMERICA INC. announced today the location of their second U.S. based dry mortar facility to be located in Waco, Texas.

The 125,000 sqft facility will produce self-leveling compounds, patches, thin sets, grouts, and other product categories in the future. In addition to manufacturing capacities, it will also be the location of the new UZIN UTZ North America training center for all brands, and the central location for R&D.

With an investment of 34 mil (USD) by the UZIN UTZ Group the new manufacturing facility will generate over 40 new job opportunities for the region. Overall production capacities of UZIN powder products will increase when the new facility is operational, and provide customers closer proximity to training, logistics, and technical services provided by UZIN UTZ North America Inc.

“After a multi-year comprehensive study of future locations for our second North American facility, the city of Waco quickly became a front runner,” stated Matthias Liebert, President of UZIN UTZ North America Inc. “Our continued growth in the Western and Southwestern states, central location of Waco to current raw material suppliers and the shared values of the city leadership with our business philosophy made for a natural fit. We continue to see a strong demand for our industry leading products and system based solutions for the flooring installation contractor. Investment in a second manufacturing facility was necessary to maintain our high standards of product innovation, quality, speed of delivery, and technical service. To launch a project of this size during our current times is a testament to our passionate employees, strong distributor partners, and loyal flooring contractors.”

Philipp Utz Executive Board Member Uzin Utz AG further commented, “In 2015 we cut the ribbon on our first manufacturing plant in North America (Dover, Delaware) firmly planting our company in the largest flooring market in the world. Investments such as this manufacturing facility in Waco, Texas and future facilities are needed in order for us to achieve our global company’s objectives set forth by our executive board for 2025 and beyond. Our commitment to the market, people, and industry has not changed; we will continue to fully invest.”

Waco, Texas will mark the third location in North America for UZIN UTZ North America Inc. Current locations include a manufacturing facility in Dover, Delaware and distribution facility in Aurora, Colorado. The expansion also adds to the extensive global manufacturing footprint of the UZIN UTZ Group with manufacturing facilities in Germany, Netherlands, France, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia, Indonesia, and China.

UZIN UTZ North America's decision to locate in Greater Waco represents a regional economic development collaboration between the City of Waco and McLennan County, with both entities strategically partnering to provide incentives to support the project.

“I’m thrilled that Waco’s economy continues to grow in 2021 with the addition of UZIN UTZ, who is bringing good jobs and great capital investments to Waco. This is further evidence that Waco’s pro-business approach makes it an ideal place for projects such as this. Many thanks to our partnerships at the Greater Chamber of Commerce and McLennan County for partnering with the City of Waco on this project and welcome to Waco, UZIN UTZ,” said City of Waco Mayor, Dillon Meek.

McLennan County Judge, Scott Felton stated, "UZIN UTZ recognizes that Waco and McLennan County are not only a great place to put a manufacturing company, but also an excellent place to establish its R&D program. Having Baylor University, MCC, and TSTC, as well as the BRIC, calling Waco their home, our business community can benefit from a business relationship with those entities to boost their R&D efforts."
